About Me
I'm a nomad of sorts guys, ive moved around often in my time. Youngstown Ohio, Bowling Green, KY, Detroit Michigan, Nashville, TN, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Pittsburg, KS, most of those were job related. I was in Kansas prior to moving back, my former company is going belly up, and I took the first package I could get and left when cutbacks started. Still have family here so im around until something else pops up and I pack and go. Glad to find some guys to talk sports with. Favorite Teams: NFL: Raiders( grew up in NE Ohio during the Steelers 4 of 6 years, I was actually a Steeler fan back then as a child, (Joe Greene and Jack Lambert) and watched the Raiders because of a friend. When Chuck Noll was let go, it ticked me off for some reason and I went Raider full time. MLB: Ive watched the Indians, Reds and Pirates since i've been 7 years old. Willie Stargell and Dave Parker said hello to me at a game once, same with Buddy Bell and Dennis Eckersley. I was lucky enough to see Reggie Jackson play vs Cleveland. Pete Rose was also a hero, Johnny Bench too. Its strange how when those players are cordial to you as a kid you always like them. Add Nolan Ryan to that, and Robin Yount. Go ahead and flame me for multiple teams, I lived in NE Ohio, Pirates and Indians were the locals, and when I would visit my grandparents here in BG, my grandfather listened / watched the Big Red Machine.... NHL: Redwings, but I follow close enough that I have a fav player on each team. First hockey autograph I received was from Steve Yzerman, and I used to spend time in the same bar that Bob Probert frequented, and got to know him a little. Its fun to listen to these guys talk puck, the stories they can tell. I went to Detroit last May and watched the Stanley Cup Finals, and also attended the parade. Ive followed hockey since the late 70's... NBA: I don't follow the NBA much anymore, to me it's street ball. Remember Im old school, so Bird vs Magic and Dr J were what I grew up with. NASCAR: I can watch 40 or 50 laps but I just dont follow that closely NCAA Football: MICHIGAN but the SEC is the best conference overall for football NCAA BBall: I watch the Big 10 (I was happy that Insight added Big 10 network) because of Michigan of course. Lived in Champaign Illinois during the Illinois - UNC finals, was able to experiance the "college" town during their 2 year run. I do watch the SEC also.. I was living in Kansas last year, and ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK makes me sick. I do play the fantasy football / baseball / hockey stuff, always interested in joining a league. |
